Dear CISMUN Delegates and Student Officers, 

 

It is my honor to welcome you to the ninth iteration of Canadian International School Model United Nations!

 

In a world where COVID-19 prolongs for more than two years, commodity prices skyrocket, and Ukraine is invaded by Russia for months, seeking stability has been a challenge for the United Nations since its founding in 1945.  Upholding the integrity of the United Nations, diplomacy stands at the forefront of international relations, aiming to use the power of words and communication to gain peace in humanity. 

 

CISMUN invokes such values of diplomacy and engrosses our brains to creatively resolve issues of global significance. At CISMUN, delegates will be inspired to reason in intensive debate and originate resolutions to the ever-growing global issues we face today.

 

Whether this is your first Model United Nations conference (MUN), whether you are still a beginner or a veteran, I assure you that CISMUN is the place for you. With its ninth iteration, CISMUN has always been a welcoming abode for first-time delegates, as well as a place of challenge, healthy debate, and competition for their more experienced counterparts.

 

At CISMUN, our goal as the Secretariat is to strive and produce a quintessential conference for delegates and student officers alike. Engaging the power of our youth in global matters and political issues, delegates at CISMUN collaborate and take part in a demanding 3-day conference to create an impact in today’s society. At CISMUN, we aim to contribute to the development of students and delegates who are not afraid to ask questions, who are not afraid to take a stand, and who are not afraid to speak up when it is most important.

 

Delegates, student officers, and advisors, I cordially invite you to our conference where we discuss pressing issues under the theme of Nurturing Global Harmony. With the ongoing perils of planet earth, we must discuss, argue, and come to solutions, for it is us and nobody else that will implement these changes and attempt to solve these problems as the changemakers, innovators, and facilitators of a new tomorrow and a new world.
