COMMITTEES AND COUNCILS

Nurturing Global Harmony

In a richly diverse world like ours, where a plethora of religions, cultures and traditions have passed through generations, no individual’s identity is the same. Unique perspectives and ideologies shape the way we understand the world in a new light from time to time, each person proud of their unique heritage. But where differences lay, divides are sparked. Clashes and conflicts have become commonplace. Race, religion, ethnicity - basic identities have been questioned and suppressed all around the world, erasing the unique identities built over generations. Politics, a medium for voicing your thoughts and sparking change in legislation, has now been the source of violent protests through questionable verdicts.

In trying times like these, where identities are at risk and voices are silenced, harmony is needed to sustain equitable growth for all as the world progresses. To ensure a world, for all.

The theme for CISMUN IX, Nurturing Global Harmony, aims at discussing the methods through which we can rectify the volatile political state of the world. The one thing common to all countries is the complex and seemingly unfixable problems of the modern world. Indigenous tribes are being forced out of their homelands. Women are denied their right to education, and this is only the starting point of discrimination against women as femicide rates increase exponentially. Extremist terrorism continues to make safe living conditions inconceivable in Northern Africa and the Middle East. As the world is trying to recover from a devastating global pandemic, we must begin discussions on revitalizing the economy, while still keeping people's interests at heart. A common point in these conflicts is the absence of consensus. Consensus as to how to address the problems and how to do so peacefully is what will lead us on to the path of global harmony.

The theme in question for this year challenges delegates to not only come up with dynamic, realistic, and viable solutions for global issues but also take decisions that keep all of the world’s unique residents’ situations and voices in mind. Solutions for all.

We, the CISMUN Secretariat, are enthusiastic to see our prospective delegates mock-tackle issues and come up with innovative solutions for problems they might face in their very own lifetimes. We encourage every participant to look within and channel their energy into finding effective solutions that will help us all harmonize and progress together, violence a myth.

The Secretariat wishes all participants the best of luck for CISMUN IX.

We hope to see you create a small ripple of change in an ocean of conformity, and challenge what you believe needs to be changed.
